The project will entail the replacement of an undersized culvert, which currently serves as a complete barrier to fish passage in a Schooner Creek tributary that provides more than .5 miles of excellent upstream salmonid habitat. Following installation, SDCWC will plant willows upstream of the culvert, to further enhance habitat. The project lies within the Hebo Stewardship Group boundary, in close proximity to extensive swaths of Forest Service land. The project will directly benefit the Siuslaw National Forest, as Schooner Creek serves as important spawning and rearing habitat for coastal coho salmon, Fall Chinook, and winter steelhead.
